Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since spread globally. The disease spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object contaminated by the virus, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. There is currently no treatment for COVID-19 and its recent outbreak has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization.
